Barnaby Bear was a very happy bear, especially when berry season arrived! He loved plump, juicy blueberries more than anything in the world. This year, Barnaby found the biggest, bushiest blueberry patch he had ever seen. He spent the whole afternoon picking, filling his basket until it was overflowing.
“These are *all* for me!” Barnaby chuckled to himself, imagining a delicious blueberry feast. He hurried back to his cozy cave, carefully guarding his precious berries. As he neared his cave, he saw Rosie Rabbit and Finley Fox playing nearby. They looked a little sad.
“What’s wrong?” Barnaby asked, trying not to think about his berries.
Rosie sighed. “We were hoping to find some blueberries for a bedtime snack, but we haven’t had any luck. All the patches we found were empty.” Finley nodded sadly. “We’re really hungry.”
Barnaby clutched his basket tighter. He wanted to say, “Too bad!” But looking at his friends’ disappointed faces made his tummy feel a little funny. He remembered how much fun they had building a fort together last week, and how Rosie had helped him find his favorite honey pot when he lost it.
He thought about all the blueberries. He had *so* many. Would he really miss a few?
Taking a deep breath, Barnaby said, “Actually… I found a really big patch! I have plenty to share.” He carefully divided his blueberries into three smaller piles, giving one to Rosie and one to Finley.
Rosie and Finley’s faces lit up! “Oh, Barnaby, thank you!” Rosie exclaimed, happily munching on a blueberry. Finley agreed, “These are the best blueberries ever!”
Barnaby smiled. He ate his own blueberries, and they tasted even sweeter than he remembered. Sharing his berries hadn’t made him have less; it had made him feel *more* happy. He realized that having friends to enjoy things with was much better than having everything all to himself.
As the sun began to set, the three friends sat together, enjoying their blueberry snack. Barnaby felt warm and fuzzy inside. He learned that sharing wasn’t about giving something away; it was about spreading happiness.
“This was the best bedtime snack ever,” Finley yawned. Rosie and Barnaby agreed. Soon, all three friends were snuggled in their homes, dreaming sweet dreams of blueberries and friendship. And Barnaby Bear knew, as he drifted off to sleep, that sharing really *is* caring.
