Milo was a tiny mouse with very big ears. He lived under the roots of the oldest oak tree in Sunny Meadow. Every night, Milo loved watching the fireflies twinkle. They were like little stars dancing in the grass. But tonight, one firefly wasn’t twinkling. It was Flicker, and his light was…gone!
Flicker zoomed down to Milo, looking very sad. “Oh, Milo,” he buzzed, “I’ve lost my glow! I can’t shine anymore, and I need to get back to my family before bedtime. They’ll be worried!” Milo, though small, felt a big surge of bravery. He knew he had to help.
“Don’t worry, Flicker!” squeaked Milo. “We’ll find your light. Where did you last see it?” Flicker thought hard. “I was practicing my loops and swirls near the babbling brook. Maybe it bounced away!”
So, Milo and Flicker set off. The brook was a little scary for a tiny mouse. It was wide and bubbly! But Milo remembered his mama always said, “Even the smallest creature can be helpful.” He found a smooth, flat stone and carefully pushed it into the water, making a little stepping-stone path for Flicker.
They searched and searched. Milo peeked under leaves and behind flowers. Flicker zoomed around, trying to spot a glimmer. Finally, Milo spotted something! It wasn’t a glow, but a tiny dewdrop clinging to a spiderweb. The dewdrop caught the last bit of sunlight and sparkled!
“Look, Flicker!” Milo cried. “Maybe…maybe if you fly near it, it will remind you how to shine!” Flicker flew closer to the sparkling dewdrop. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and… *poof*! A tiny spark flickered, then grew brighter and brighter. His light was back!
Flicker zoomed around with joy, his light shining like a little beacon. “You did it, Milo! You helped me find my glow!” Milo giggled. “We did it together!” Flicker thanked Milo with a gentle flash of his light and zipped off to rejoin his family.
Milo scurried back to his cozy home under the oak tree, feeling warm and happy. He learned that even the smallest mouse could be brave and helpful, and that kindness always shines brightest of all. Now close your eyes, little one, and let your own light shine bright as you drift off to sleep.
