Luna was a little grey cat with big, green eyes. She loved to play in the garden, chasing butterflies and batting at falling leaves. But tonight, Luna was sad. The stars weren't twinkling! Usually, the night sky was full of sparkly lights, but tonight it was just…dark.
“Oh dear,” Luna whispered, looking up at the sky. “The stars have lost their twinkle! What will happen if they don’t shine?” She asked her mama. Mama Cat purred and said, “Sometimes, little one, things lose their sparkle. But we can always try to help bring it back.”
Luna decided she *would* help. She walked around the garden, asking all her friends if they knew what happened to the star twinkle. She asked Barnaby the bumblebee, Rosie the robin, and even grumpy old Mr. Tortoise. No one knew!
Then, she saw Finley the firefly, looking very glum. “What’s wrong, Finley?” Luna asked. Finley sighed. “I…I lost my glow! I can’t light up anymore, and I think that’s why the stars are sad too. They miss my little light.”
Luna knew what to do. She gently nudged Finley with her nose. “Don’t worry, Finley! We’ll find your glow.” Luna and Finley searched everywhere. They looked under leaves, behind flowers, and even inside a watering can. Finally, Luna spotted something shimmering near the rose bushes.
It was a tiny drop of morning dew, reflecting the moonlight! Luna carefully helped Finley fly close to the dewdrop. As Finley flew near, his little light began to flicker…and then *glow*! He was shining brighter than ever before.
Finley zoomed up into the sky, his light twinkling happily. And as he twinkled, something amazing happened! One by one, the stars began to twinkle too! They had been waiting for Finley’s light to remind them how to shine.
Luna purred with happiness. She learned that even when things seem lost, a little kindness and helping a friend can bring back the sparkle to everything. Mama Cat came and licked Luna’s head. “You did a wonderful thing, little one,” she said.
Luna snuggled close to her mama, watching the twinkling stars. She knew that even on the darkest nights, there was always a little bit of light to be found, especially when you have good friends. Now close your eyes, little one, and let the star twinkle lull you to sleep.
