Clarence the Chicken Learns to Share His Special Seed

« Back to Topic

3 min read ・ Age 7

Clarence was a small, fluffy chicken with bright yellow feathers. He loved pecking around in Farmer Giles’ garden, searching for tasty treats. One sunny morning, while scratching near the pumpkin patch, Clarence found something extraordinary. It wasn’t a worm, or a bug, or even a juicy berry. It was a seed! But not just any seed – this seed shimmered and sparkled with all the colors of the rainbow.

Clarence had never seen anything like it. He carefully picked up the sparkly seed and held it tight. “This is the most wonderful seed in the whole wide world!” he clucked happily. He decided he would plant it all by himself and grow the most magnificent flower anyone had ever seen. He imagined a flower so bright it would light up the whole farm!

He found a perfect little patch of soft dirt near his favorite dust-bathing spot. But as he started to dig, he noticed Beatrice the hen looking sadly at a patch of bare ground. “What’s wrong, Beatrice?” Clarence asked, clutching his sparkly seed.

Beatrice sighed. “I wanted to plant some sunflower seeds, but I can’t find any. I was hoping to grow a tall sunflower to cheer up Old Man Tiberius, the grumpy goose. He’s been feeling quite down lately.”

Clarence looked at his sparkly seed, then at Beatrice’s sad face. He thought about his magnificent flower, and then he thought about Old Man Tiberius. A little voice inside him whispered, “Sharing is caring.” But it was *such* a special seed!

He hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. “Beatrice,” he said, “I found a very special seed. It’s sparkly and rainbow-colored. Maybe… maybe we could plant it together? And then we can share the flower with Old Man Tiberius!”

Beatrice’s face lit up. “Oh, Clarence, that would be wonderful! Thank you!” Together, Clarence and Beatrice carefully planted the sparkly seed. They watered it and made sure it had plenty of sunshine.

Days turned into weeks, and finally, a tiny sprout appeared. It grew and grew, and soon it blossomed into the most beautiful flower anyone had ever seen! It wasn’t just bright; it seemed to glow with happiness. Old Man Tiberius waddled over, and when he saw the flower, a rare smile spread across his beak.

“Well, I’ll be,” he honked softly. “That’s the prettiest flower I’ve ever laid eyes on.” Clarence and Beatrice beamed with pride. Clarence realized that the flower wasn’t nearly as special when he kept it all to himself. Sharing it with his friend and bringing joy to Old Man Tiberius made it a thousand times more wonderful.

From that day on, Clarence always remembered that the best treasures are even better when they’re shared. And every time he saw the sparkly flower, he remembered the joy of friendship and the magic of generosity. He continued to search for tasty treats in Farmer Giles’ garden, always looking for ways to share his good fortune with his friends.
