Leo was a little lion, but he dreamed BIG! He wanted to be a superhero. All the other lions in his pride were strong and roared loudly, but Leo’s roar was more of a squeak. He tried to leap like a superhero, but mostly tumbled into fluffy piles of grass. He worried he wasn’t superhero material.
One sunny afternoon, Leo was practicing his ‘super-leap’ when he heard a tiny cry. It was Millie the mouse, and she was terribly upset! “My berries!” she squeaked. “The wind blew them all into the prickly bushes! I need them for my family’s dinner.”
The other lions were busy napping in the shade. They were too big to carefully reach the berries without getting poked by the thorns. Leo knew he wasn’t strong, but he *was* small and nimble. He carefully crept through the bushes, dodging the prickly branches. It wasn’t easy, and he got a few little scratches, but he didn’t give up.
One by one, Leo gently plucked the berries from the bushes and placed them in Millie’s little basket. Millie was overjoyed! “Oh, thank you, Leo!” she squeaked happily. “You’re a true hero!”
Leo’s heart swelled with pride. He hadn’t needed a loud roar or a mighty leap to be a hero. He had used his small size and careful paws to help someone in need. He realized being a superhero wasn’t about being the biggest or the strongest; it was about being kind and helpful.
Just then, Old Man Fitzwilliam, the wise owl, landed on a branch above them. “I saw what you did, Leo,” he hooted softly. “True heroism isn’t about grand gestures, but about small acts of kindness. You used your special gifts to help a friend, and that makes you a wonderful superhero.”
Leo smiled. He might be a little lion with a squeaky roar, but he was a superhero nonetheless. He helped Millie carry the berries back to her family, and then, feeling warm and happy, he curled up for a cozy bedtime nap. He knew that even the smallest among us can be brave and make a big difference. And that, he thought, was a super feeling indeed.
As Leo drifted off to sleep, he dreamed of all the little ways he could be a superhero tomorrow – helping a lost beetle, sharing his favorite leaves, and always being kind. Because even a little lion can have a big, superhero heart.
