Luna the Unicorn and the Lost Colors of Dreamland

Luna was a little unicorn who lived in Dreamland, a place usually bursting with color. But lately, Dreamland had become…gray. Not a scary gray, just a very, very dull gray. The sparkling rivers were gray, the fluffy clouds were gray, and even the rainbow flowers were gray! Luna worried. Dreamland wasn’t Dreamland without its colors.

Old Man Tiber, the wisest owl in Dreamland, explained, “The colors aren’t *gone*, Luna. They’ve just…lost their sparkle. They need a little kindness to shine again. Each color is tied to a happy memory, and when no one remembers to be kind, the sparkle fades.”

Luna decided she would bring the sparkle back! She started with the river. She noticed a little fish, Finley, was trying to build a dam out of pebbles, but the pebbles kept tumbling down. Luna carefully used her horn to gently hold the pebbles in place while Finley finished his dam. “Thank you, Luna!” Finley chirped. As he said it, a tiny ripple of blue shimmered in the river.

Next, Luna saw a group of cloud sheep looking glum. They couldn’t seem to fluff up their wool. Luna told them silly jokes, and tickled them with a blade of grass. Soon, the cloud sheep were giggling and bouncing, and their wool became a fluffy, bright white. Another sparkle returned to Dreamland!

She continued her journey, helping wherever she could. She helped a grumpy badger find his lost berries, and she listened patiently to a little bird who was learning to sing. With each act of kindness, a little more color returned. The flowers began to blush with pink, the trees turned a cheerful green, and the sky started to glow with orange and yellow.

But the biggest challenge was the rainbow. It was almost completely gray. Luna discovered that the rainbow’s colors were linked to friendship. Two little sprites, Pip and Poppy, used to be best friends, but they’d had a silly argument and hadn’t spoken in days.

Luna gently encouraged Pip and Poppy to talk. She reminded them of all the fun they’d had together, building castles of dew drops and racing on dandelion seeds. Slowly, Pip and Poppy began to apologize. They realized how much they missed each other. As they hugged, a brilliant arc of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet exploded across the sky!

Dreamland was vibrant and colorful once more. Luna realized that Old Man Tiber was right. Kindness and friendship weren’t just nice things to do; they were the magic that kept Dreamland alive. And as Luna drifted off to sleep under the now-sparkling stars, she knew that even the smallest act of kindness could make the biggest difference.

From that day on, Luna continued to spread kindness throughout Dreamland, ensuring that the colors never faded again. And every night, as Dreamland slept, the rainbow shone brightly, a reminder that a little sparkle can change everything.
