Once upon a time, in a cozy little cottage, lived a tiny mouse named Pip. One sunny afternoon, a little girl named Lily decided to bake blueberry muffins. The smell drifted all the way to Pip’s little hole, and he peeked out, his nose twitching.
Lily saw Pip and offered him a warm, juicy blueberry. Pip nibbled it happily! Then, he looked at Lily and squeaked, “This blueberry is delicious! But… I’m a little thirsty.” So Lily poured him a tiny drop of milk in a bottle cap.
Pip took a sip and smiled. “Oh, thank you! But now my whiskers are sticky!” he said. Lily giggled and found a soft cloth to wipe his whiskers clean. Pip was very grateful.
“Now,” Pip said, “I need something to *do*! Perhaps I could help you tidy up?” And he started pushing crumbs into a neat little pile. Lily laughed. “That’s very kind of you, Pip!”
But tidying made Pip think of decorating! He asked Lily for some colorful flower petals. Lily happily gave him a few, and Pip arranged them around his little hole, making it look like a beautiful garden.
Decorating made Pip sleepy. “Oh dear,” he yawned, “I need a cozy bed!” Lily found a small box and lined it with soft cotton. Pip snuggled inside, feeling very comfortable.
“This is perfect!” Pip whispered. “But… I’m still a little hungry.” Lily smiled and offered him *another* blueberry. Pip ate it slowly, savoring the sweetness.
As Pip drifted off to sleep, he thought about how kind Lily was. She shared her blueberries, helped him clean his whiskers, and made him a cozy bed. He knew that being helpful and kind was the best feeling in the world.
Lily tucked a tiny blanket around Pip and whispered, “Sweet dreams, little mouse.” And as she went to bed herself, she knew that even the smallest acts of kindness could make a big difference. And that, she thought, was a very sweet thought indeed.
So if you give a mouse a blueberry, be prepared for a lot of helpfulness, a little bit of decorating, and a whole lot of kindness. And maybe, just maybe, a very sweet dream.
