3 min read ・ Age 7

Once upon a time, in a little cottage nestled beside a green meadow, lived a boy named Jack and his mother. They were very poor, and their cow, Milky White, was all they had of value. One day, Jack’s mother asked him to take Milky White to market to sell her.

Jack promised he would, but along the way, he met a strange old man. The man offered Jack something amazing in exchange for the cow – not gold, not silver, but five magical beans! Jack, though a little unsure, thought they looked special and traded Milky White for the beans. When he returned home, his mother was very upset. She scolded Jack for being foolish and threw the beans out the window.

Jack went to bed feeling sad and worried. But the next morning, something incredible had happened! A giant beanstalk had grown overnight, reaching all the way up into the clouds! Jack, feeling a surge of courage, decided to climb it.

Up and up he climbed, higher than he’d ever been before. Finally, he reached the top and found himself in a strange land. He walked towards a large castle and peeked inside. There, he saw a giant and his wife! The giant was known for being grumpy and selfish, and he had many treasures.

Jack was very careful. He saw a hen that laid golden eggs and a magical harp that played beautiful music all by itself. He knew his family could really use these things. While the giant was napping, Jack quickly grabbed the hen and the harp.

But as he was escaping, the giant woke up! “Fee, fi, fo, fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!” roared the giant, and began to chase Jack down the beanstalk. Jack climbed as fast as he could, the giant thundering behind him.

When Jack reached the ground, he shouted to his mother to bring an axe. She quickly brought it, and Jack chopped down the beanstalk. The beanstalk crashed to the ground, and the giant tumbled down with it, never to bother anyone again.

With the golden eggs and the magical harp, Jack and his mother were no longer poor. They used their newfound wealth to help others in their village, sharing their good fortune with those in need. Jack learned that even though making mistakes can happen, courage and kindness can help you overcome any challenge.

Jack also learned that being resourceful and thinking quickly could solve big problems. He and his mother lived happily ever after, always remembering the amazing adventure with the beanstalk and the importance of doing what is right, even when it’s scary. And Jack always remembered to be kind, even to those who seemed grumpy or selfish.
