Luna the firefly was a very busy little bug. All day long, she zoomed and zipped, blinking her light on and off, playing hide-and-seek with the other fireflies. She loved to play, but sometimes… she couldn’t *stop* playing! Even when the sun started to set, Luna kept buzzing around.
Her mama firefly smiled gently. “Luna,” she said, “Sometimes, even busy fireflies need to relax. It’s time to let your wings rest and your light grow dim for sleep.”
Luna frowned. “But relaxing is *hard*!” she said. “I feel wiggly! I want to blink and zoom!”
Mama Firefly took Luna to a big, soft dandelion. “Let’s try something,” she said. “Close your eyes, and listen. What do you hear?”
Luna closed her eyes. At first, she still felt wiggly. But then… she heard the gentle breeze whispering through the tall grass. *Whoosh… whoosh…* She heard a sleepy cricket chirping a quiet song. *Chirp… chirp…* She even heard the soft hoot of an owl far away. *Hoo… hoo…*
“Those sounds are very calming, aren’t they?” Mama Firefly asked. Luna nodded. The sounds made her feel… slower. Less wiggly.
“Now,” Mama Firefly said, “Take a deep breath in, and then slowly let it out. Like you’re blowing bubbles.” Luna took a deep breath, and blew it out slowly. It *did* feel good!
She took another deep breath, and another. With each breath, she felt her wings getting heavier and her light getting dimmer. She imagined the breeze carrying all her wiggles away.
Soon, Luna wasn’t zooming or blinking anymore. She was just… being. Peaceful and quiet. She snuggled close to her mama on the dandelion.
“I think… I think I’m relaxing!” Luna whispered, her light a soft, gentle glow.
Mama Firefly kissed Luna’s head. “You are, my sweet firefly. And now, it’s time to sleep. Sweet dreams, Luna.” Luna closed her eyes, listening to the calming sounds of the night, and drifted off to a peaceful, relaxing sleep.
