In a lush green forest, nestled amongst towering trees and babbling brooks, lived a young snake named Serpen. Serpen was a curious little snake, always eager to explore and discover new things.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, Serpen was on a quest to find the perfect spot for his bedtime. He slithered past towering ferns and through whispering reeds, but he couldn't seem to find a place quite comfortable enough.
All the other creatures seemed to have their perfect spots. The squirrels had cozy nests in the branches, the frogs had their lily pads, and the birds had their nests in the tall trees. Serpen felt a little disheartened. Every place seemed too small, too crowded, or just not quite right.
As he slithered sadly, he heard a gentle rustling in the leaves. Peeking through the bushes, Serpen saw a tiny, scared mouse huddled beneath a large, velvety leaf. It was shivering.
The mouse was lost and afraid. Serpen remembered how he had felt a little bit lost and anxious when he couldn't find his perfect spot for bed. Feeling a surge of compassion, Serpen nudged the mouse gently with his nose.
Serpen knew the mouse was scared and probably didn't want to be disturbed, but he decided to offer the best place he knew. With a patient sigh, he led the mouse towards a sheltered hollow by a large root. The hollow was just big enough for the mouse to curl up in.
The mouse, surprised by the snake's gentle gesture, cautiously crept into the hollow. Serpen stayed nearby, watching the mouse settle in and fall asleep. He stayed there until the mouse was fast asleep.
Serpen realised, in that quiet moment, that the best place wasn't necessarily the one that was biggest, but the one that was kind and safe. He curled up close to the mouse, enjoying the feeling of calm and contentment. He felt a warmth in his heart, a feeling of having done something good, and found his own perfect bedtime spot.
And as the moon cast its soft glow over the forest, Serpen drifted off to sleep, knowing that kindness and patience were treasures far more valuable than any grand place.
From that night on, Serpen always looked for kindness first, before looking for a perfect spot. And soon, Serpen discovered that the best bedtime stories were the ones that came from caring for others.
