Barnaby Bear loved bedtime. But even Barnaby loved bedtime *more* when it involved a special bedtime storybook! Tonight, he had chosen his favorite, a book all about brave little fireflies.
His friend, Celeste the Cat, curled up beside him. "Can I look too?" she purred politely.
Barnaby beamed. "Of course!" he said, carefully turning the pages to show her the colorful pictures of the fireflies twinkling in the night sky. Sharing the book made the story even better.
They read about how one little firefly, Flicker, was too shy to light up with the others. Flicker worried that his light wasn't bright enough.
Celeste listened intently, her tail twitching with sympathy. Barnaby felt a warm feeling in his tummy. It was wonderful to share this story with his friend.
But then, the other fireflies showed Flicker how to use his special light to make magical patterns in the night. Everyone's light, no matter how big or small, was important and made the night sky even more beautiful!
Barnaby and Celeste giggled at the silly firefly dance shown in the picture. They agreed that all the fireflies' lights, together, made the prettiest night-time show.
After the story, Barnaby yawned. "That was a great story," he whispered. "Thank you for sharing it with me, Celeste."
Celeste snuggled closer. "You're welcome, Barnaby. Bedtime stories are the best, aren't they?"
Barnaby nodded, feeling sleepy and content. He knew that sharing the book with Celeste made the bedtime story even more special. He drifted off to sleep, dreaming of twinkling fireflies and the warm feeling of friendship.
And just as the sun peeked over the horizon the next morning, Barnaby woke up, ready for a brand-new day and a new bedtime story with his best friend Celeste. Bedtime stories are truly a special part of his nightly routine!
