Luna was a sparkly, white unicorn with a rainbow mane. She lived in a field of fluffy clouds and loved to play all day! But when bedtime came, Luna had a little trouble. She couldn't quite reach the star-shaped nightlight her mama had made for her.
Every night, Luna would stretch and stretch, tiptoe and tiptoe, but the nightlight was just a little too high. She’d try to use her horn to nudge it, but it just wobbled! Luna started to feel a little sad. Being a magical unicorn didn’t mean she could do *everything* all by herself.
One evening, Barnaby Bear saw Luna looking glum. “What’s wrong, Luna?” he asked kindly. Luna explained about the nightlight. Barnaby smiled. “I’m a very good climber! I can help!”
Barnaby carefully climbed onto a soft cloud and gently lowered the nightlight so Luna could reach it with her horn. Luna’s face lit up! “Thank you, Barnaby!” she said. “You’re the best friend a unicorn could ask for.”
But even with the nightlight close, Luna still felt a little bit wobbly inside. She missed playing and felt a little too energetic to sleep. Barnaby noticed. “Sometimes,” he said, “even unicorns need a little quiet time. Let’s close our eyes and take three deep breaths.”
Luna and Barnaby closed their eyes and breathed in… and out… and in… and out… Luna felt her muscles relax. Barnaby hummed a gentle tune. Luna snuggled close to Barnaby, feeling safe and warm.
Luna realized it was okay to ask for help, and it was okay to need a little quiet time to calm down. She thanked Barnaby again and switched on her star-shaped nightlight. It cast a gentle glow on the fluffy clouds.
“Goodnight, Barnaby,” Luna whispered. “Goodnight, Luna,” Barnaby replied. And soon, the sparkly unicorn and the kind bear were both fast asleep, dreaming sweet dreams under the starry sky. Remember, little one, it’s always okay to ask for help, and a little kindness goes a long way!
