Viktor and Rolf's Nighttime Adventure

« Back to Topic

3 min read ・ Age 6

Viktor the vole and Rolf the rabbit lived in a cozy burrow nestled beneath a giant oak tree. They were the best of friends, always playing together and sharing their treasures.

One starlit night, a loud crashing sound echoed through the forest. Viktor and Rolf peeked out of their burrow, their eyes wide with worry. A huge pile of fallen branches blocked the path to the meadow, where they usually collected berries for their supper.

‘Oh no,’ whispered Rolf, ‘How will we get berries now?’ Viktor felt a pang of sadness. They both loved the plump, juicy berries. They also loved to share them with their other forest friends.

Viktor looked around. He saw a wise old owl perched on a branch, watching them with kind eyes. Viktor remembered how the owl had helped them find lost acorns before. He ran to the owl and explained their predicament.

The owl hooted softly. ‘Patience, little friends,’ it said. ‘The branches are heavy. It takes time for them to move.’

Viktor and Rolf looked at each other, then at the towering pile of branches. They both felt discouraged, but they remembered the owl's words. They sat down at the foot of the fallen trees.

As they waited, Viktor remembered all the times they had helped each other. They'd helped a lost bird find its nest, shared their delicious dandelion greens with the grumpy hedgehog, and even helped the shy fawn feel comfortable in the meadow. They knew their friendship was strong.

Slowly, with great effort, Viktor and Rolf started to move the branches, one by one, gently placing them aside. They worked together, encouraging each other with quiet words of support. Soon, the path was clear.

They found the meadow, full of ripe berries. As they gathered their baskets, they felt a warm glow. They knew that even though it had taken some time, their patience and teamwork had paid off. It was now time for a berry feast with their friends.

Sharing the berries with the other woodland creatures, Viktor and Rolf felt so grateful for their helpful friend, the owl and their own friendship. It was clear to them now that the joy of helping others and their close friendship brought even greater happiness than simply enjoying a plentiful berry patch.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the forest, Viktor and Rolf curled up together in their cozy burrow, grateful for their friendship, the kind owl, and the wonderful experience they had shared. They felt a deep sense of accomplishment and knowing that if they worked together they could achieve anything. They were also thankful for the patience they learned that night, and snuggled close to dream of the next day’s adventures.
